Weber State University began as the Weber Stake Academy in 1889 and has a strong foundation in Ogden, UT. It expanded over time from an academy to a state-supported junior college, finally gaining full university status in 1991. The university is now well known for being among the top quality teaching institutions in the U.S. Providing excellent access and high quality hands-on professional education in programs including health professions and engineering. The university currently has multiple campuses and learning centers throughout the state for students. Davis Campus in Layton is among these centers as well as Farmington, Clearfield and Morgan locations. The university main campus is located in Ogden on the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains and on its scenic main campus students have access to some of the best laboratories and classrooms as well as student housing and recreational facilities such as a climbing wall; the university is also known as a national leader for environmental sustainability. Students at Weber State comes from all backgrounds and their global community is made up of international students from 65 countries. The university also employs dedicated faculty members that have come from highly recognized academic and professional fields.
