The University of Winchester traces its origins to the Winchester Diocesan Training School, established as a Church of England foundation. In 2005, the Privy Council granted it university status, and in 2008, the same council authorized the University to award research degrees. Located in Winchester, Hampshire, England, the University of Winchester has a single campus divided into four main quarters: King Alfred Quarter, West Downs Quarter, Medecroft Quarter, and Bar End Quarter.
