The University of Utah, known as ‘the U,’ is the State's oldest Institution of higher education. Established in 1850, it was originally named the University of Deseret and adopted its current name in 1892. The University relocated to its present campus in Salt Lake City in 1900. The University's campus spans 1,534 acres in an urban setting, providing a vibrant environment for its multicultural academic community. The University at present has nearly 36,000 students on campus with international students belonging to 106 countries. The University of Utah’s acceptance rate exceeds 80%.
