The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), in Charlottetown, was established in 1969 through the merger of Prince of Wales College and Saint Dunstan’s University. As the province’s leading institution, UPEI is a good university known for its strong academic programs and research contributions while preserving its legacy. The campus features 29 buildings dedicated to academics, administration, student residences, and athletics. Notable facilities include Don and Marion McDougall Hall, home to the School of Business; Bill and Denise Andrew Hall; and the W.A. Murphy Student Centre. UPEI consists of four faculties—Science, Education, Arts, and Veterinary Medicine—along with schools in Business and Nursing. It has a diverse student community of over 5,500 students from 92 countries, with international students making up 35% of the population. With an operating budget exceeding $183 million, the university hosts six Canada Research Chairs and nine 3M National Teaching Fellows.
