Established in 1889 by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature and located in the heart of Albuquerque along the historic Route 66, the University of New Mexico is spread across nearly 800 acres and serves as the state’s flagship public research institution. With an enrollment of over 22,000 students, UNM is the largest university in New Mexico and one of the leading universities in USA for academic and research opportunities. Its diverse student community includes learners from more than 68 countries. The university is known for its strong research culture, recognized as a Carnegie R1 “very high research activity” institution to study in USA. Among its eight major research units are the Center for Advanced Research Computing, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, COSMIAC, the Center for High Technology Materials, the Innovation Academy, the Center for Quantum Information & Control, the Design Planning Assistance Center, and the Mind Research Network.
