The University of Nebraska–Lincoln was established in February 1869 as a land-grant institution to serve the educational needs of Nebraska. It is a recognized member of the Big Ten Conference, the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). Nebraska–Lincoln is part of the University of Nebraska system, the state’s only public university network. This system includes four campuses: the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and the University of Nebraska Medical Centre.
