The University of North Carolina Wilmington, USA was founded in 1947 as Wilmington College, initially founded to server returning World War 2 veterans seeking to re-enter civilian life through education. In 1969, the institution officially joined the University of North Carolina System, growing from a local college into a prominent national research university.
