The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) traces its origins back to 1886 when it was founded as a private institution known as Chattanooga University. In 1969, it merged with Chattanooga City College and became part of the University of Tennessee System, leading to its current identity as UTC. It comprises five colleges: Engineering and Computer Science, Business, Health, Education and Professional Studies, Arts and Sciences, and Honors College. There is a diverse academic environment that supports both Graduate and Undergraduate students across various disciplines. With a total enrollment of 11,775 students, around 1,573 are in Graduate Programs, while over 10,202 pursue Undergraduate Studies. The academics are supported by 576 full-time and 258 part-time instructional faculty, along with 237 graduate assistants and three research faculty. UTC carries out research through institutes like the UTC Research Institute, Quantum Centre, CUIP, and IGTLab, which contribute to its academic and scientific advancements.
