About Suncrest College
Suncrest College was officially established on July 1, 2023, through the strategic merger of two long-standing institutions, namely, Cumberland College (founded in 1975) and Parkland College (founded in 1973). The name ‘Suncrest’ aptly symbolizes this new beginning: the ‘sun’ represents growth and renewal, while the ‘crest’ denotes excellence and a shared vision to reach the peak of achievement. Today, Suncrest College is fast emerging as a leading college in Canada, particularly in Saskatchewan, by combining the heritage, strengths, and regional presence of its predecessor institutions. Serving more than 4,500 learners and employing around 350 staff, Suncrest fosters a close-knit, supportive educational environment. To study at Suncrest College Canada, its academic structure spans multiple departments and programs. Suncrest is fully accredited as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), making it eligible for international student recruitment and streamlined visa processes. The College’s vision to shape the future of rural, northern, and remote communities by delivering top-notch learning opportunities is supported by values of innovation, inclusion, accountability, sustainability, and responsiveness. In the domain of research, Suncrest is rapidly building capacity. It runs an agronomy research farm in collaboration with the East Central Research Foundation, and recently won a $1 million five-year Mobilize grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council to scale its applied research efforts. Beyond academics, Suncrest is deeply invested in employment outcomes, with about 88% of its graduates moving into jobs aligned with their programs. Through its alumni, Suncrest continues to strengthen its legacy. Graduates often remain and work in the region, enriching their communities, while programs such as professional firefighting or early childhood education prepare students for meaningful, in-demand careers.
