South East Technological University (SETU) is a public technological university in Ireland's South East Region. It was created through the merger of the Waterford Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology Carlow. While the establishment of SETU was announced in 2021, it was officially formed on May 1, 2022. Notably, it stands as the only university in the South East of Ireland. SETU has multiple campuses across the South East of Ireland, including locations in Waterford, Carlow, Wexford, and Kilkenny. The largest campuses are in Waterford and Carlow, with Waterford hosting over five sub-campuses and Carlow having around three campuses. South East Technological University in Ireland serves a student body of over 18,000, including more than 560 international students from 120+ countries. It is supported by a dedicated team of 2,000 staff members who contribute to its academic and research excellence. SETU demonstrates strong research capabilities, with a commitment to increasing its research expenditure to €27.5 million by 2028.
