Oxford Brookes University originated as the Oxford School of Art in 1865. It attained university status in 1992 and was named in honour of its founding principal, John Brookes. It has three campuses in Oxford—Headington, Harcourt Hill—along with a Swindon site dedicated to adult nurse training. The largest, Headington Campus, spans three sites: Gipsy Lane, Headington Hill, and Marston Road. Harcourt Hill Campus is three miles from Oxford city centre and about 30 minutes by bus from the main campus. Swindon Campus is located in the Delta Business Park in West Swindon, close to the Great Western Hospital and other placement partners. Oxford Brookes University has a student body exceeding 16,900, with approximately 20% international students representing 150 countries. Students are supported by a dedicated staff of 2,800. They are enrolled across 11 schools, organized into two faculties: the Faculty of Health, Science, and Technology (HST) and the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS).
