Formed in 1992 to address the need of Northern Ontario to provide a good student experience along with academic and research excellence, Nipissing University is a public university which has one main campus in the city of North Bay. The campus is situated between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, which is surrounded by various protected natural areas, forest parks, and historical sites. Some highlights of the campus are the RJS Student Athletic Centre, The Learning Library, Campus Trails, and Duchesnay Falls, among others. Nipissing University has 3 faculties namely the Faculty of Arts and Science, Schulich School of Education and Faculty of Education and Professional Studies.
