Maynooth University, officially known as the National University of Ireland, Maynooth is located in Ireland’s only University town, Maynooth. The University roots date back to 1795 with the establishment of the Royal College of St. Patrick. In 1997, Maynooth gained autonomy under the Universities Act, making it both one of Ireland’s oldest and youngest Universities simultaneously. Maynooth University Ireland main campus is split into two parts. The South Campus, or ‘Old Campus,’ which has historic buildings like the Chapel, National Science Museum, and Maynooth Castle. The North Campus, built in the 20th century, has modern academic buildings, student residences, etc. Additionally, the University operates a smaller campus in Kilkenny at St. Kieran’s College, established in 1997. Maynooth University is structured into three faculties: Science and Engineering; Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy; and Social Sciences. With a student population exceeding 16000 from 120+countries, the University fosters a diverse and vibrant academic community. Supporting this academic body is a dedicated faculty of over 1200 members, including 560 full-time equivalent academic staff and 680 academic and research staff members.
