MacEwan University, founded in 1971, is a publicly supported Undergraduate Institution based in Alberta. Governed by a board, it functions under the authority granted by the Post-Secondary Learning Act. In 2009, it was formally designated as Grant MacEwan University through an official Order in Council, and in 2013, the institution adopted the simplified name ‘MacEwan University’ for branding and public communication. The institution’s senior academic governing body is the General Faculties Council (GFC), which oversees key areas related to Academic Affairs. Its responsibilities include matters such as Academic Programming and Curriculum, setting Academic Standards, supporting Research and Creative Activities, and administering Academic Policies and Awards. No, student records are confidential and cannot be shared with anyone without the student’s written permission. Students are permitted to begin working only after their academic program has officially started. Arriving early in Canada does not grant permission to work prior to the program’s commencement.
There is no fixed rule for how early a student can enter Canada, as long as they arrive before the expiration of their MacEwan Letter of Acceptance. However, it is recommended to arrive with sufficient time to get settled and prepare for the start of classes, using the university’s pre-arrival resources for guidance.
Only licensed professionals such as RCICs (Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants), RISIAs (Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors), or immigration lawyers can legally offer immigration advice. MacEwan International has qualified RCICs and RISIAs available to assist students free of charge.
Once a student receives a conditional or unconditional offer, they must log in to myStudentSystem to formally accept the offer, pay the required deposit, and confirm their place in the program.
