About Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool, England
Liverpool Hope University, based in the city of Liverpool, England, traces its roots back to 1844. It was founded through the coming together of three teacher training colleges: Saint Katharine’s College, Notre Dame College, and Christ’s College. These institutions were among the earliest to extend higher education opportunities to broader sections of the population in England. This strong foundation reflects Liverpool Hope University's core values, which are built on academic excellence, inclusive education, and a commitment to social justice. On 22 July 2005, the Privy Council officially awarded it university status, leading to the formal establishment of Liverpool Hope University as it is known today. Liverpool Hope University has two main teaching campuses and an outdoor education centre. Hope Park serves as the central academic hub, while the Creative Campus focuses on creative and performing arts degrees. Plas Caerdeon, located in Snowdonia, North Wales, is the university’s dedicated outdoor education centre. Liverpool Hope University has over 5,000 students and an academic structure divided into four faculties. Each faculty consists of multiple schools with a strong teaching and research focus. The faculties are Human and Digital Sciences, Business, Law and Criminology, Creative Arts and Humanities, and Education and Social Sciences. Research at Liverpool Hope University is driven by a wide network of dedicated research centres that emphasize public engagement and global collaboration. One of the leading centres, the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies, maintains partnerships with institutions such as the Embassy of Colombia in the UK, Lille University, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Balfour Project, and several other international organisations. Graduates who study at Liverpool Hope University, UK, benefit from ongoing career support, with access to Careers and Employability services for up to three years after completing their degrees.
