Academic probation is applied when a student fails to meet the minimum academic progression requirements at King’s University College. All students intending to graduate from King’s University College must meet the following academic requirements: Completion of a minimum of 5.0 and a maximum of 7.0 first-year credits. Fulfilment of breadth requirements, including 1.0 credit from each of Categories A, B, and C. Completion of 2.0 designated essay credits, with at least 1.0 at the 2000-level or higher. Completion of at least one essential module, such as a Major or Specialization. Accumulation of a minimum of 15.0 credits for a three-year degree, and 20.0 credits for a four-year degree. For a three-year degree, no more than 9.0 credits may be in one subject area; for a four-year degree, the limit is 14.0 credits. A minimum 60% cumulative average in courses used toward graduation, and a minimum 60% modular average; higher averages are required for Honours degrees.
Yes, graduates of King’s University College retain access to borrowing privileges at the Cardinal Carter Library, as well as libraries affiliated with Brescia University College, Huron University College, St. Peter’s Seminary, and the Western Libraries network. Alumni can use their Western Alumni card or a recently expired Western student ID as a valid library card.
In general, students are expected to complete courses at King’s if they are available there. Exceptions are considered only if the course is required in the current academic year and it conflicts with another required course. In such cases, students should attend a drop-in advising session or schedule an appointment with an academic advisor. Students are not permitted to take an elective course at another campus if it is offered at King’s, as this would violate residency requirements.
