Established in 1947 as the Kangwon Provincial Chuncheon Agricultural College, Kangwon National University (KNU) has an interesting history of evolution, expanding into a comprehensive university in 1978. Following its historic province-wide integration with Gangneung-Wonju National University, KNU is now widely recognized as a premier, future-oriented regional flagship institution. Currently, Kangwon National University operates in four big campuses located in Gangwon Province – Chuncheon, Gangneung, Samcheok, and Wonju campuses, along with one sub-campus based in Dogye.
