Jönköping University (JU) was originally established in 1977 as Högskolan i Jönköping. Over the years, it has grown as one of the leading universities in Sweden. With its transformation into a foundation model in 1994, JU gained the right to award Doctoral Degrees in Humanities, Social Sciences and Industrial Product Development. Jönköping University hosts approximately 14,700 registered students, including around 2,387 international students from over 100 countries. The urban campus, situated on the western shore of Lake Munksjön near Vättern, comprises four dedicated schools: Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), School of Engineering, School of Health and Welfare, and School of Education and Communication. Academically, JU offers a wide range of English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. These are complemented by preparatory Pathway Programs to support non-EU/EEA applicants in gaining admission to study in Sweden. Under its vision of ‘People first’, JU emphasises sustainability, research, education, internationalisation and societal collaboration. Its strategic plan prioritises co-creation of knowledge, lifelong learning and sustainable development aligned with UN SDGs.
