Founded in 2015 as the flagship liberal arts initiative of Yamanashi Gakuin University, the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) offers an exceptional opportunity to study in Japan with an American-style learning experience. Situated in Kōfu, Yamanashi Prefecture, it is just 90 minutes from central Tokyo and provides a serene yet accessible base for international students. From its inception, iCLA has positioned itself as a leading English-medium liberal arts college in Japan. Its innovative approach emphasises small class sizes, and a multicultural environment where over half of the student body and around 60 % of faculty members are drawn from outside Japan. The campus building, acclaimed for its architecture by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Toyo Ito, is officially listed by Japan’s MEXT as a Selected Building for its open, integrated design of living and learning spaces. To study at the Yamanashi Gakuin University - International College of Liberal Arts, Japan, iCLA offers a Bachelor of International Liberal Arts, and students may select different majors.
