Florida International University (FIU) was founded by the Florida Legislature in 1965 and opened its doors to students in 1972. Since then, it has emerged as one of the leading Public Research Universities in the USA, earning the prestigious status of a Preeminent State Research University and classification as a Carnegie R1: Very High Research Activity university. It is the only Public University in South Florida to hold this distinction. As part of its academic development, the Graduate School of Business was officially named the Chapman Graduate School of Business in 2001, and the Undergraduate School was named the Landon Undergraduate School of Business in 2004, both reflecting the University’s dedication to cultivating leadership and excellence in business education. FIU operates from two principal campuses; one is in the Modesto A. Maidique (University Park) Campus, offering wide academic and research facilities.
