Established in 1975, the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT), also known by its Māori name Te Aho a Māui, has evolved into a leading tertiary education Institution in New Zealand. Initially founded as Hawke's Bay Community College, it transitioned to Hawke's Bay Polytechnic in 1987 and adopted its current name in 1996. EIT is recognized as a Category One institution by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), reflecting its commitment to excellence in education and research. The Hawke's Bay campus spans a picturesque 28-hectare site in Taradale and is strategically positioned between Napier and Hastings.
