California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) was founded in 1965 as Kern State College and became the 19th campus in the California State University system in 1970. Situated on a 375-acre campus in the southern San Joaquin Valley, CSUB serves as the region’s only public university within nearly 100-miles radius. The University has a student body of approximately 10,419, enrolled either at its main campus in Bakersfield or at the Antelope Valley center.
