California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) was founded in 1965 as Kern State College and became the 19th campus in the California State University system in 1970. Situated on a 375-acre campus in the southern San Joaquin Valley, CSUB serves as the region’s only public university within nearly 100-miles radius. It actively collaborates with community partners to enhance educational attainment across the area. The University has a student body of approximately 10,419, enrolled either at its main campus in Bakersfield or at the Antelope Valley center. This USA University is supported by a dedicated team of about 1,315 faculty and staff, all committed to fostering student achievement. Academic programs are offered through four distinct colleges: Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering; Business and Public Administration; Social Sciences and Education; and Arts and Humanities, reflecting the institution’s commitment to a broad and well-rounded education. The College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering (NSME) at CSUB engages both Graduate and Undergraduate students in advanced research on Microplastics, Cancer, Biochemistry, and Earthquake Science.
