California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) was established in 1938 in San Dimas as a branch of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In 1966, it became a separate institution and was named California State Polytechnic College, Kellogg Campus. In 1972, it was granted university status and officially became California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. It is the largest of the three Polytechnic Universities within the California State University system in terms of student enrolment. Although it operates under the CSU system, Cal Poly Pomona has developed a unique identity and academic focus of its own. Cal Poly Pomona comprises the College of Professional and Global Education (formerly known as the College of Extended University), which serves as the university’s educational outreach division offering pathway programs designed specifically for adult learners. Each year, the university welcomes numerous international students seeking academic courses and English language preparation through CPGE.
