About Bath Spa University, Bath and London, England
Bath Spa University traces its origins back to 1852 when it was established as the Bath School of Art following the Great Exhibition. Today, it stands among the prominent universities in the UK. In a recent structural update, it has reorganized its senior management into two main bodies: the University Executive Board (UEB) and the University Leadership Group (ULG). The main campus, Newton Park, is home to the Georgian Main House, a historic castle, and contemporary academic buildings featuring digital and studio facilities. The Locksbrook campus, located in a former furniture factory by the river, specializes in art and design. Sion Hill hosts courses in design and education in a compact urban setting. Other teaching locations include Oldfield Park Theatre Workshops, Paintworks, and Corsham Court. All campuses are well-connected and accessible by road and public transportation. The university has a student population of around 8,000 and employs approximately 1,200 staff members. These are distributed across a broad range of academic schools for Postgraduate and Undergraduate studies, including the School of Sciences, Bath Business School, Bath School of Art, Film and Media, Bath School of Design, the School of Education, the School of Writing, Publishing and the Humanities, and the Bath School of Music and Performing Arts. Its research activity is organized through three interdisciplinary hubs: the Story Society, the Centre for Environmental Humanities, and the Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries. In addition to these, individual schools within the university also operate their own subject-specific research centres, supporting focused academic inquiry across disciplines. Studying at Bath Spa University provides students with the opportunity to join a global alumni community of over 62,000 members. Graduates benefit from a variety of exclusive services and ongoing support designed to strengthen their professional and academic connections.
